Captain's Chronicles: Steering Clear of the Poop...For Now

A captain in sports (and boating, flying, and really anything in society) is the leader of a particular group. But, if you are my buddy Jimmy, a captain is a loser that you probably don't want to associate yourself with (ie Captian “Save a Ho”, Captain Obvious, Captain Dipshit etc.). I'd like to think of myself as somewhere in between.

As the lead and only writer of this blog, I naturally dubbed myself the captain. I know..pretty dorky, lame, stupid…all of the above.

In order to make sure that this blog doesn't just revolve around my 365 Day Betting Project, I wanted to create a recurring entry where I can post uninteresting hogwash that is going on in my world.

Although my wife will never openly admit it, she is a bit of a Star Trek nerd and this rubbed off on me a little with the recent movie. Anyone that knows of Star Trek has heard William Shatner utter the words "Captain's Log, star date, blah blah" and then go on about what he learned from the episode that you just watched.

I wanted the title of this recurring blog to play off of that somehow and eventually landed on "Captain's Chronicle". Originally, I wanted to make a poop joke that played on the word log, but decided against it. But don't get me wrong, there will always be room for poop jokes in this blog and in my life. That’s just one of the many joys of never growing up.

Earlier today Wendy posted my first article of this blog on her Facebook.  And, of course, I received a smart ass comment from a friend.  This comes with the territory of being a self proclaimed jackass, you tend to surround yourself by people of like mind.

This leads me to think that perhaps calling myself Captain is opening up a wide array of avenues to be made fun of by these people that I tend to call “friends”. So, to whomever of my friends that do decide to read this crap that I call blog….BRING IT!

That’s all I have for now.  It’s time to sit through my second to last Agency class while I constantly check the LAA/FLA score on ESPN Gamecast.  Oh the joys of being in school during this electronic age.  Can’t imagine how much worse my grades would be at UCSB if they had wireless back then.
