Day 8 Pick: Angles, Weaver -124 ~ Pregame

For anyone that knows me, I’ve had a fascination with the Weavers since college.  Starting with older brother Jeff, I just liked his rugged look and reckless appearance on the mound.  Jeff came into the Bigs highly touted and he didn’t disappoint his first few season.  Then, he began to disappoint on a daily basis.

As a UCSB Gaucho, I started following Jared Weaver during his career at Long Beach State.  Once he got drafted, my strange loyalty to this family of pitchers continued.

This season, Weaver came out of the gates blazing, but recently hit a horrendous skid.  He seems like he is turning it around and this next start against the turbulent Florida Marlins could be his for the taking.

The Marlins manager just quit and the team seems to spinning around in the abyss.  Weaver’s heavy fastball and wicked slider should do a number on Florida’s slumping hitters.

I’m enjoying this two-game winning streak that I am riding and hopefully I can get a little more love from Weaver tonight.

Although I’m still $421 in the hole, I’m only one win away from a .500 record, which, I guess, is somewhat respectable.
