Wimbledon ended up getting the best of me despite a .500 record. When all was said in done, I ended up losing $150 on those two picks. I probably should have stayed away from the Isner wager, especially since I thought it was a little suspect that he was the favorite.
Almagro had a ton of power for a small guy. The Spaniard did not surrender a game on his serve, blowing serve after sever past Isner. Since I don’t know a lot about every player in tennis, I tend to get burned like this a lot. This is why we are heading back to the diamond for today’s pick.
I decided to try something a little different today. Instead of going with a pitcher that has been doing well lately, I’m going to go against it. I know, it sounds pretty retarded.
Usually when I check ESPN’s PR 7/15/30, I go with a pitcher that has been trending upward from the PR15 to the PR7. Today, I looked for a pitcher that has been trending upward from the PR30 to the PR15 to the PR7 and went the other way. Absolutely genius, right?
Here is my dumb-ass reasoning.
A pitcher can’t be perfect forever and he is due to have a game where he gets jostled. I wanted to try and capitalize on this. Rather than go with the favorite, why not try to find a pick that pays out more than even money. We will see if this actually works.

Over the past 30 days, Tampa Bay’s James Shield has continued to put up great numbers, going from 2.88 (PR30) to 7.13(PR7). We can only hope that he slips up today against the Astros’ Wandy Rodriguez.
Lucky for me, Rodriguez has also been doing pretty well these past few weeks. This is probably why he isn’t a bigger underdog.
It’s a bit of a risk but I need to try and win back those units that went down the drain with Isner.
Units on this Game: 3
Overall Record: 5-6
